TLT Covid-19 Procedures

Due to the circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the arrival and departure procedures will be different this year.

  1. Children two (2) years old and under will be dropped off at the exterior glass doors to the left of the building at the end of the breezeway entry. Children 3 and over will be received at the main entry glass doors. Siblings with younger children can be dropped off at the 'Two Years Old and Under," door.

  2. Staff members wearing masks will greet children at the door.

  3. Children will have their temperature taken by staff members, before entering the building to make sure no child has a temperature higher than 100*. Staff members will also be checked each morning prior to entering the building. These numbers will be recorded on paper.

  4. Children who are sent home (for a temperature over 100°) are not allowed to return to school for a 72-hour period.

  5. Children (fever free) will be escorted to their classrooms by staff members.

  10. Strict cleaning procedures will remain in effect for all classrooms, bathrooms, and hallways. Staff will use a bleach and water solution for cleaning all toys and surfaces. Each evening the facility will be cleaned by a professional cleaning service that will follow be using Covid-19 disinfecting products.

  11. If your child or a member of your family is exposed to the virus, PLEASE DO NOT BRING THE CHILD TO TLT DURING THE 10 DAY QUARANTINE PERIOD OR UNTIL A NEGATIVE RESULT IS REPORTED. ALSO, REPORT THE EXPOSURE TO THE DIRECTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

*North Carolina Division of Child Development has decided on some options for wearing masks in the classrooms, not the building. Cloth face coverings are what is stated in the guidance unless they have 1 or more of the 11 things listed in the Executive Order (see below) regarding when cloth face coverings are not required. As stated below face shields can be worn by individuals that have difficulty wearing a cloth face covering but it can’t take the place of it. Exceptions: Face Coverings do not need to be worn by an individual, worker, customer, or patron who:

  1. Has a medical or behavioral condition or disability and cannot wear a face covering (including, but not limited to, any person who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious or incapacitated, or is otherwise unable to put on or remove the face covering without assistance);

  2. Is under five (5) years of age;

  3. Is actively eating or drinking;

  4. Is strenuously exercising or swimming;

  5. Is seeking to communicate with someone with hearing loss in a way that requires the mouth to be visible;

  6. Is giving a speech for broadcast or to an audience;

  7. Is working at home or alone in a vehicle;

  8. Is temporarily removing his or her Face Covering to secure government or medical services or for identification purposes;

  9. Would be at risk from wearing a Face Covering at work, as determined by local, state, or federal regulators or workplace safety guidelines;

  10. Has found that his or her Face Covering is impeding visibility to operate equipment or a vehicle; or

  11. Is a child whose parent, guardian, or responsible person has been unable to place the Face Covering safely on the child’s face.

  12. Children under two (2) years of age should not wear a face covering.

TLT has decided that face masks in the classroom may be detrimental to the healthy language development of our children. We believe our children are well protected while they are in our care and deserve the opportunity to develop naturally. TLT will hear your concerns, should you have any and consider each one separately.
